Job Related Stress - Symptoms and Resolutions
Job Related Stress - Symptoms and Resolutions Everyone knows about job related stress. But few know how to resolve it or to reduce it. Job related stress can make your life absolutely miserable and its important to get rid of it altogether, or at least get it reduced so it doesnt affect your everyday life. It is estimated that a whopping 62% of Americans feel their work is the major cause of stress in their lives. Yikes! At the same time, stress levels have increased 50% since 2007. These are very significant numbers. Some of the things that induce job related stress are impending layoffs, problems with co-workers or superiors, overtime, no time off, and simply not being in the right job position. Any number of these things can cause physical problems such as things upset stomachs, frequent headaches, sleep issues and even grinding your teeth. More serious health issues are increased blood pressure, diabetes, weight gain and psychological problems. No one wants any of the above mentioned problems. Therefore, its important to make a change. Possible changes include taking time off from work, working out any differences between co-workers and superiors, making sure you are prepared in case there are layoffs, and if you are just unhappy in your position, start searching for another position. Remember, nothing in this world is more important than your health and your well being. A vacation or a job change will affect your income, but its important to understand that its better to make adjustments and rearrange a couple of bills in order to make things easier on you. You dont want to have problems with family or have psychological problems over job stress. If necessary, find a new job. Make the new year count by reducing the stress levels in your life. It is never too late to make changes so that you can live a more balanced, calm life.

What Font Should I Use For My Resume?
What Font Should I Use For My Resume? When it comes to what font should I use for my resume, the selection will depend on a number of factors. You need to have a resume that will make you stand out among your competitors and attract the attention of your prospective employer. Some fonts are better than others in different situations. It is very important to choose a good quality font for your resume that will be easy to read. A font that is easy to read and avoids distracting characters or letters that may cause the eyes to glaze over will be far more effective than a font that is difficult to read. When you are looking for a font to use, there are some things to consider before settling on one. The first thing to do is to look at the types of applications you will be using to write your resume. If you are an application developer or an editor, then you will likely need a font that is small and well spaced. It is better to choose a font that is textured with all the characters that you may use.Do not assume that the type of font you use is the same as that used by most other people. Just because you use a certain font, does not mean that you are obligated to use it for all your applications. You can choose a different font or even switch to a different font if the situation requires it. This will save time and get you a better result in the end. While the use of any font for your resume is to avoid the use of distracting characters, there are many word processors out there that have fonts that are quite similar to the fonts used by professionals. It is often best to stick with your own preferred font when writing your resume. This will save you time and put you ahead of your competition. It also gives you the opportunity to personalize your resume and have it written exactly how you want it to be.Once you have settled on the typeface you would like to use, make sure that the font is in bold throughout the document. This will help you create the desired impact with the audience that you are trying to reach. You do not want a font that is just in different styles throughout the document because this will create an unfocused document that lacks focus. Make sure that you use a font that has a balanced weight and height throughout the document so that the reader will have no trouble reading the resume.Finding the right font for your resume will help you create a professional document that the job you are applying for will find attractive. Use the tips above to find the best font for your needs.

Maye Musk What is Elon Musks Moms Net Worth
Maye Musk What is Elon Musk's Mom's Net Worth Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk may be a household name by now, but he isnât the only successful Musk. For more than 50 years, Elonâs mother Maye Musk has carved out a multi-dimensional career as a model, nutritionist, and speaker. Though sheâs not trying to colonize Mars or build elaborate tunnels underground, Maye Musk has appeared on numerous covers including Time Health and last year became CoverGirlâs oldest spokesmodel. Hereâs a closer look at the fabulous life of Maye Musk. Maye Muskâs Humble Origins and Early Career Maye Musk was born in 1948 in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. She was a twin and one of five children. Early in her childhood, she and her family moved from Canada to South Africa, where her parents instilled a sense of adventure in her. In 1952, when Musk was only four years old, her parents flew the family 22,000 miles around the world in a plane her father had brought in pieces from Canada, according to The New York Times. Also during her childhood, she and the family would often explore the Kalahari Desert searching for its mythical âLost City.â They retraced the footsteps of Canadian adventurer William Leonard Hunt (alias Guillermo Farini), who claimed he had found the ruins of a massive ancient city while crossing the treacherous desert in 1885. Dozens of expeditions over the following century were launched in vain to find the lost civilization. At age 12, Musk and her twin sister Kaye worked as receptionists for their dadâs chiropractor clinic both before and after school everyday. At 15, she shifted gears and started her career in fashion, which took off during the 1960s with ads for cosmetic brands and companies like Colgate. She won beauty pageants in her hometown, and finished as a finalist in the 1969 Miss South Africa competition. In 1970, she married Errol Musk, a South African engineer she met in high school. During the â70s, they had three kids â" Elon, Kimbal, and Tosca â" before getting divorced nine years later. After 1979, Musk shifted gears and started her dietician practice by cold-calling doctors and sitting in waiting rooms for hours in the hopes that she would get meetings or new clients. Her determination paid off, and once she had fully launched her practice, she often juggled nutrition clients with various fashion shoots. She has run her own nutrition business for more than 45 years â" speaking and consulting as a wellness expert all over the world. She holds two masterâs degrees in the field â" in dietetics from the University of the Orange Free State in South Africa, and in nutritional science from the University of Toronto. Raising the Musk Kids Success certainly runs in the Musk family. The mother of âgenius boyâ Elon emphasizes that all her kids are âbrilliant.â Today, Mayeâs younger son Kimbal is a co-founder of The Kitchen, a family of restaurants that sources food directly from local farmers, and Big Green, a complementary nonprofit that builds gardens in schools. Muskâs daughter and youngest child, Tosca, is an award-winning filmmaker and TV producer working in Los Angeles. After finishing high school, Elon chose to leave South Africa and attended Queenâs University in Ontario, Canada. In 1989, Musk and the rest of her children followed him by moving from Johannesburg to Toronto according to Business Insider. While raising her three children as a single mother in a small rent-controlled apartment there, Musk worked five jobs at a time to support the family and make ends meet. These included her modeling gigs and working as a research officer for the University of Toronto, so that her children could go to school there for free. She too attended school at the University of Toronto and earned a Masters degree â" working on her practice and attempting to become a registered dietitian, all while running a modeling school and teaching nutrition classes in the evenings, according to her website. When Elon and Kimbal launched their startup software company, Zip2, Musk would visit her two boys every six weeks, flying from eastern Canada to San Francisco to help keep them afloat financially. In addition to giving them $10,000 (all of her savings from work in Toronto), she would buy them groceries, furniture, paper, and photocopies â" âwhatever I could afford,â as she told Forbes. She eventually moved to San Francisco in 1996 â" the year her nutrition book, Feel Fantastic, was published â" to be closer to her children. For Muskâs 50th birthday, her two sons gave her a little toy house and car, pledging to buy her the real thing once they became successful â" which they did, after selling Zip2 to Compaq in 1999 for $307 million. Back in the Spotlight While Elonâs net worth is estimated at $22 billion, Mayeâs is unknown, though she has boosted her income in recent years. âI was famous until Elon became famous,â Musk jokingly told The New York Times in an interview. After living for thirteen years in New York and continuing to split her career between being a model and a dietitian, Musk moved to Los Angeles when Tosca had twins, in order to be closer to her family. Over the last decade, Musk has graced the covers of New York Magazine and ELLE Canada, not to mention starred in numerous advertising campaigns for companies such as Virgin America, Joe Fresh, Target, Revlon and Clinique. Her hard work has paid off: she was signed by mega agency IMG Models Worldwide in early 2016, and in September last year, Musk became CoverGirlâs oldest model at age 69. Speaking to Vanity Fair about her resurgence, Musk said that she is âliving proof that [you can] find work for an older womanâ¦Iâve never worked so much as I do now.â

Top 3 Tips For Telephone Etiquette - Work It Daily
Top 3 Tips For Telephone Etiquette - Work It Daily In todayâs busy world, employers donât always have the time or the budgets to bring in every candidate they are considering, so an initial screen may be conducted over the telephone. Related: What To Do On A Phone Interview This phone screen can be the deciding factor on whether or not a candidate advances to an in-person interview, so savvy candidates should be mindful of telephone etiquette. 1. Treat A Phone Interview Like An In-Person Interview You should come prepared with knowledge of both the company and the job. Be available at the scheduled time and ready to interview. Preparation is key for in-person interviews and itâs just as important for telephone interviews. Do your homework on the company and the position. Try to be as knowledgeable as possible about what the company is looking for and why youâre the perfect choice for the job. Manners matter, too, so speak clearly and be respectful of the interviewer. Many of the regular etiquette rules weâve learned over the years, like saying please and thank you, also apply to telephone etiquette. Because you wonât have the luxury of seeing the interviewer, youâll need to remember to listen especially well. Allow for brief periods of silence as the interview collects his/her thoughts and avoid interrupting the interviewer. 2. Make Sure You Have Good Reception If you must take the call from your cell phone, make sure you are in an area that has good reception and you are in a quiet environment. Background noises are very distracting to the interviewer and you want to make sure the interviewer knows you are taking the interview seriously. If you must be in your car or in an environment that is noisy, address this with the interviewer at the beginning of your conversation. The interviewer may offer to call you back at a more convenient time. Cell phones sometimes amplify sounds, so make sure youâre not chewing gum or eating while trying to answer questions. Itâs acceptable to have a glass of water nearby in case your mouth goes dry, but try to drink quietly and not slurp your beverage in the ear of the interviewer. You should also be cognizant of your movements. If youâre prone to fidgeting or nervous energy motions like tapping a pencil, keep in mind that these things may be heard by the interviewer and could be distracting. 3. Focus Eliminate any distractions while on the phone. For example, turn off your computer, find a babysitter for your children, and so on. Itâs unlikely you would take your children to an in-person interview, so telephone etiquette dictates the same protocols. It may be helpful to have a printed copy of your resume and the job description in front of you so you can refer to these documents throughout the conversation. Also have a pen and paper available to jot down any notes or follow-up instructions from the interviewer. Since you wonât be able to request a business card, you may want to ask for the interviewerâs contact information at the conclusion on your interview. As the largest online career community for women, we at Fairygodboss realize that balance is a myth, and that picking what to prioritize when everything feels important on a day-to-day basis isnt always easy. In the MakingTime series, women share with us how, for one day, they chose to spend their most precious resource time.--WhoAshley RectorWhat Attorney, mother-to-be and the founder ofpferdegeschirr MagazineWhereGreaterColumbus, Ohio area--645 a.m.My alarm goes off but Ive already been up three times in the middle of the night to go to the restroom. Part of the curse of being in my final trimester of my first pregnancy is frequent (and I mean frequent) bathroom breaks. These are my new normIts Friday and I took the day off from my attorney job to focus on Harness. Balancing doesnt come easy these days, but its well worth it. I tell Alexa to shut my alarm off but she doesnt listen, so I shout one more time. The sound of my voice wakes our two dogs, who are eager to go outside and start the day. My husband rolls over and gives me a hug, patting my belly and feeling our little son kicking inside me. We decide to get 10 more minutes of shut eye together. The dogs curl around us and I enjoy this peaceful moment before the chaos of the day starts.730 a.m.I wake up 30 minutes later, my mind racing through my to-do list for the day. I check my emaille and add the rest of the tasks for the day to my electronic to-do list, Hibox (its a life-saver). My husband and I take the dogs for a quick walk (as quick as you can be seven months pregnant) and he jumps on a conference call as I begin shipping out magazine orders for the day.945 a.m.After a quick shower, we head to the Post Office and a local coffee shop in town to begin the days work. it feels like the morning is gone but a lavender latte kicks my butt into gear and I start answering emails. I ts amazing how quickly your brain can multi-task. I switch from writing an interview, to coordinating our crowdfunding team, to requesting a refund from a company that keeps charging me for a business service we arent using. By the time I look up, its 1218 and Im ready for lunch.1245 p.m.Im always hungry these days and my poor husband has the shakes. I furiously schliff an email as he patiently waits for me to finish one more sentence. We arrive at lunch and as we wait for our food, I receive an email from a wonderful contact I made at Kickstarter, explaining campaign rewards. Roughly 10 minutes later, my phone rings and its our crowdfunding strategist. I step away after eating only a few bites of my food to see what she has to say. She informs me that she had a great conversation with Kickstarter about our decision to utilize the platform to launch the next leiter of Harness. A sigh of relief comes over me as she tells me how enthusiastic Kickstarter is about Harness mission.130 p. m.We finish our food and arrive home to greet our two overly-hyper dogs. I sneak a few bites of candy in as I hop on to my computer to finish answering emails and start building out a social strategy. I get distracted and order promotional postcards from Vistaprint but then hop back to emails and let all Harness members who were not chosen for our video campaign know that we appreciate them. I check my task manager to try to get back on task.3 p.m.Tasks completed wrote video script, sent poetry piece to videographer, entered emails into Mailchimp from an event we recently attended, applied for campaigns with brands to add to our revenue stream, cleaned up Slack channel, notified giveaway winner, set up a conference call.I decide to switch to my day job email and quickly answer anything necessary while Ive been out so members of my team arent left high and dry.415 p.m.I decide to call it quits until later in the evening. I order tickets off my phone to see a movie at 500pm. I feel li ke Ive just run a marathon, but Im also really happy about the progress Ive made for the day.8 p.m.The movie ends and Im feeling exhausted I get home, answer a few quick texts from Harness team members, and make myself a snack.9 p.m.I jump on the computer to check a few emails and market an event we are having in two weeks. My body tells me its time to turn in for the night and give myself a break tomorrow.930 p.m.I head to bed and crawl beneath the covers. I mentally take musiknote of how good it feels to rest and how great the space next to my husband feels. Gratitude is so important for maintaining a positive outlook. After todays work marathon, I tell myself, tomorrow I will take it easier. Working At Raytheon
Working At Raytheon Are you ready to bring your talents to Raytheon?Watch the video above to see how their collaborative and diverse team of students, recent graduates, veterans and career professionals are making an impact through innovation. Then, click here to see all available opportunities at Raytheon and dont forget to press Follow to receive custom job matches, event invitations and more One of the biggest challenges in almost all industries today is achieving gender parity. Gender diversity provides huge benefits in the workplace. pWhile some industries have made significant advancements in gender diversity, some industries lag further behind... and the construction industry is well-known for being in the latter category. If someone says, construction workers, youll likely picture a group of men in yellow hard hats analyzing an architects plans or laying bricks on top of a scaffold. And men at work signs only help to reinforce this image.pThis stereotype is rooted in reality. When welches the last time you actually spotted a woman on a construction site? Or hired a female plumber or carpenter? Your answer is most likely never. In fact, the Bureau of Labor Statisticsreports that only 3.4% of the total of 8.3 million construction employees are women.pBut the construction industry has a lot more to offer than steel-toed boots and hard hats, and it needs women to help advance the industry in this era of rapid change. Here are 5 reasons why women joining the workforce or looking to make a pivot should consider a career in construction.h21. Fuel Innovation/h2pNot only is diversity the socially and morally right thing to do, but it is also actually an excellent business strategy. pResearch presented in the Harvard Business Reviewshows that diverse teams develop more innovative ideas. This is further supported by a study conducted by Gallupon the performance of gender-diverse teams versus single-gender teams, which fo und that the difference in backgrounds and perspectives lumineszenzdiode to better business performance and problem-solving. h22. Capitalize on Demand/h2pThe construction industry is currently experiencing a labor shortage. The industry itself is booming and projected to be one of the fastest-growing industries, with total spending projected to exceed $1.45 trillion in 2023/a. However, most construction companies are unable to meet the rising demand. pAccording to the Associated General Contractors of America/a, more than 80% of contractors are experiencing difficulties filling hourly craft positions that represent the bulk of the construction workforce.pAnd demand isnt limited to individual contributor roles. Given the industry boom, there are a number of open stable and high-paying roles (any project managers out there?) waiting for the right candidateh23. Leadership Opportunities/h2pAccording to the Bureau of Labor Statistics/a, women compose only 7.7% of the total 1 million mana gerial positions in construction.br/pBut given the highly collaborative nature of construction work, more women in leadership roles would help drive innovation and enhance productivity.Furthermore, as a woman in construction in a leadership position, youd have the unique opportunity to drive change for the industry and make it a more attractive vorkaufsrecht for other women.h24. High-Income Potential/h2pSalaries for many skilled positions in construction are on the rise, making a construction career a prime choice for women looking for a high-paying job,pThe 2018 Construction Craft Salary Surveyconducted by the National Center for Construction Education and Research revealed that salaries for many skilled craft areas are increasing. Project managers and project supervisors topped the list at $92,523 and $88,355, respectively. The next set of highest-paying jobs include those of combo welders ($71,067), instrumentation technicians ($70,080), pipe welders ($69,222), power line workers ($68,262) and industrial electricians ($67,269). Of the 32 categories of workers in the survey, 19 positions earned an average salary of $60,000 or higher.h25. Sense of accomplishment/h2p The construction industry can give employees a unique sense of achievement. Yes, the job is stressful and the work can be demanding, but nothing beats the feeling of being able to build something from the ground up. pHow many professionals in other industries can point at a school, a hospital, or a skyscraper and say I helped build that?pThe construction industry has a long way to go in combating gender bias and supporting women in the workforce, but given the current demand for workers, theres no better time to plattl up a sledgehammer (figurative or literal) and smash the gender stereotypes plaguing the construction industry.
